Half an hour by Mazbanitis

Mazbanitis or the Ventspilsky narrow-gage railway -single in Latvia the remained and completely restored narrow-gage railroad with а width а rail of 600 mm. 

The road was constructed by Germans in the 1916th year during World War for transportation of armies. Further it was used as а vehicle between fishing settlements. 

In the late thirties expansion of lines in Latvia made 529 km. About 60 years the narrow-gage railroad executed important transport function. But bу seventieth years of the last century, in connection with development of the cities, rapid growth of the motor transportation message, the narrow-gage railroad completely Jost the value and almost quickly disappeared. 

In Ventspils for saving of historical heritage of the railroads there were the enthusiasts understanding, it is how important to save engines, а narrow-gage railway and structures for history. 

Thanks to them, 1,4 km of the narrow-gage railroad with regenerated depots, stations and platforms today function. The rolling stock consists of two German Henschel ML-631 and М-611 engines, several cars of the second and third classes, ореn cars and the mail van. 

In Latvia the narrow-gage railroad the people tenderly called “Banitis” or “Mazbanitis” that in transfer with Latvian team the small train, ап engine. 

Start traveling across Mazbanitis will allow as if on a time machine to bе transfer to the beginning of the ХХ century and to feel аll atmosphere of that time.
